Incident 001/2025
On Sunday 5th January 2025, at 11.53 hrs we were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service to assist with a 53-year-old male who had fallen on the canal tow path near Great Knowley, Chorley.
The walker, was unable to stand and had a suspected broken right ankle. Once on scene, Team members along with the RRV Paramedic gave medical treatment and he was then stretchered along the slippery tow path to the road head were we met by a land Ambulance.
Our casualty was then safely transferred from our stretcher into the Ambulance and the Paramedics care.
20 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue were involved in this rescue along with Ambulance Service Paramedics which took 3 hours to complete.
This was our first incident of 2025 and we wish our walker all the very best in his recovery and we hope he will be out and about again very soon.
