Incident 008/2025
The rescue Team were called at 12.30 pm on Monday 24th February 2025 by the North West Ambulance Service for a 72-year-old male walker who had a suspected broken ankle in the Lead Mines Clough area of Anglezark.
Once Team members arrived, it was determined after assessment that further treatment was required as the ankle was deformed and the patient was in severe pain. After giving first aid at the scene, we then moved the patient off the fell using our mountain rescue stretcher to the road head where we then transferred the gentleman over into the hands of Paramedics with the Ambulance Service.
We also asked for assistance from our neighbours Bolton Mountain Rescue for this callout.
13 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team along with Team Members of Bolton MRT were involved in this incident which took nearly 5 hours to complete.
We wish our casualty a very speedy recovery and we hope he is out and about walking the fells very soon.
