Incident 010/2025
At 15.25 hrs Wednesday 12th March 2025 the rescue Team were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service to attend to a 76-year-old female with left ankle injury who slipped and fell whilst walking in the Jenny Point area.
Within 35 minutes, our first mountain rescuer was the casualty and had started a medical assessment, where it was determined that her left ankle was probably broken and she needed evacuation to a safe area where an Ambulance could be located.
Once further Team members arrived, our casualty was made comfortable on our mountain rescue stretcher and she was evacuation the 500 metres across the fell to an awaiting ambulance where she was duly transferred, she was then driven into Lancaster Royal Infirmary for further assessment and treatment.
17 volunteers of Bowland Pennine were involved in this rescue which was completed in just over 3 hours.
We wish our casualty a speedy and swift recovery and we hope she is out and about walking the area soon.
