Incident 018/2025

On Thursday 10th April 2025, Lancashire Police contacted our rescue Team to attend to a fallen female fell runner on the west side of Nicky Nook.

Upon arrival, our Team members assessed the runner and it was determined that she had a potential broken right ankle.

With the Ambulance Service notified, the rescue Team then made her comfortable, secured her on our mountain rescue Bell stretcher and carried her to the road head where a land ambulance was waiting. She was then transferred over to Paramedics and we then stood down.

12 volunteers of Bowland Pennine mountain rescue were involved in this incident which took just over 4 hours to complete.

We wish our female fell runner a swift recovery and wish her all the very best.
