At 00.05hrs Monday 26th September 2022 the rescue Team were contacted by Lancashire Constabulary to help and assist with an overdue 74-year-old female walker in the Harrop Fold area.
With the walker being overdue by some hours, a high-risk situation was declared, and we joined the Police and Fire Service searching the local area. With our specialist outdoor skills, the mountain rescue team searched areas of open land and wooded areas. During the search we requested the assistance and help of a search and rescue helicopter S92 from the Coastguard based in Caernafon, North Wales.
After an 8-hour search in which we also had the help from Mountain Rescue search dogs and making plans to re-search during daylight, the sad news came in that our overdue walker had been located by a local farmer deceased.
All our thoughts go out to the family during this sad occasion.
