Incident 002/2025
On Sunday evening 5th January 2025 at 18.19 hrs the North West Ambulance Service requested our services for the second time on this cold wintery day.
An 82-year-old male was reported as being stuck in woods for over 4 hours, sustaining an arm injury after slipping on the icy ground.
Team members were quickly on scene at the wood, which is just off Littledale Road, Lancaster to assist the casualty and to make an initial medical assessment.
Once it was determine the casualty had injured his left elbow and suffering from early stages of Hypothermia, Team members splinted the arm and utilised one of our Blizzard blankets as protection against the harsh weather.
On further consultation with the Ambulance Control centre and with full agreement of the casualty and his friend who present, the casualty was driven to Lancaster Royal Infirmary in the family car for a further medical assessment and treatment.
21 Team members were deployed to this incident (some were stood down en route) which took just over an hour to complete.
