Incident 054/2024

The 2nd callout of the day for the rescue Team when Lancashire Police requested the team to locate 2 lost walkers who were reported to be on Dunsop Fell, in the Trough of Bowland.

2 walkers, (1 male/1 female) were lost on Dunsop Fell, with a report of no torch to aid route finding. Both reported as fit and well but lost.

We used SARLOC technology to locate the lost persons and then deployed a number of team members onto Dunsop Fell to find them.

Once located, we checked them over and they were able to be walked off the hill with team members to a local farm in the area where we then repatriated the young couple with their car.

16 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team were involved in this incident which started at 16.00 hrs on the 30th December 2024 and concluded some 4 hours later in the dark at 20.00 hrs.

The young couple were in very good spirit and thanked the rescue team. With everything being okay with no injuries, the team then returned to base and stood down.

This being our last incident of 2024, we wish our 2 young walkers, along with all our casualties during 2024 all the very best for the New Year and the future.
