Incident 047/2024

Saturday 21st November 2024 at 15.20 hrs, the rescue Team were requested to assist the North West Ambulance Service with a 14-year-old male, who had fallen from his mountain bike at Healey Nab. Initial injuries was reported as possible back injury.

Once the rescue Team was able to access and locate the young man, the rescue Team assessed and treated him.

He was packaged into our mountain rescue casualty bag (very large sleeping bag designed for injured persons) and carried off on a mountain rescue Bell stretcher to the roadhead at Higher Healey where a land ambulance was located. The 14-year-old casualty was then transported by Ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital. 

The callout incident involved 17 mountain rescuers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team which took 3 hours to complete.

We wish our 14-year-old young man a swift and speedy recovery.
