Incident 045/2023
At 10.50hrs on Sunday 8th October 2023, while the rescue team was in attendance at our Head Quarters ‘Smelt Mill’ near Dunsop Bridge’, we were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service to attend to a Paraglider who had fallen some distance on Parlick.
With team training halted, the rescue team moved into the Parlick area and we joined members of the North West Air Ambulance at the scene. A medical assessment was made and the team then carried the casualty the short distance on our Bell mountain rescue stretcher the short distance to the aircraft, where we then loaded and he was airlifted into Preston Royal Infirmary.
31 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain along with the Air Ambulance attended this incident.
We wish our casualty a speedy and healthy recovery.
