Incident 052/2024

The rescue Team were called by the North West Ambulance Service at 13.20hrs on Saturday 21st December 2024 for an 80-year-old who had fallen from his horse and had hit a wall.

Teams members living close by were quickly on scene and assessed the situation and he was breathing and alert. Considering the mechanism of injury, full precautions were carried out and we placed him in a body vacuum mattress and evacuated him off the hill using our Mountain Rescue stretcher to the road head for onward transportation into Lancaster Royal Infirmary.

14 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team were involved in the incident which took 3 hours to complete.
