Hopefully you are aware now that all members of BPMRT are all 100% unpaid volunteers, who give their spare time freely. Members come from all walks of life, professions and backgrounds, all bringing something different to the mix to build a stronger team. The same can be said for the community around us.

Perhaps you have a particular skill or professional trade that you think would benefit the team. If so, please drop us a line to discuss what you have in mind

Dogsbodies and training casualties play an integral part of the teams continued training programme and development as a search and rescue resource – no matter what the weather conditions are or the seasons is. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our training exercises to make them as life-like as possible.

If you are over 18 years old and would like to volunteer, please contact us to find out when our next training session is or ask to be added to our training casualty list.

BPMRT attends a great number of local fundraising events to help raise funds towards the teams running costs. These events include open days, galas, festivals, street collections and fell/trail races.

If you are over 18 years old and could spare a few hours to help at one of these events, please see when our next public event is or drop us a line.

Keeping the team operational costs approximately £35,000 per year and this covers everything from keeping the roof over our head, to the diesel in our vehicles, to medical training course to the coffee in our cups. All cost money and all are essential to help us to continue to provide the essential life-saving service.

If you have a particular service or product, be it; help with building or vehicles maintenance, or donating non-perishable supplies that will help fuel the team, then please contact us.

If you, or on someone’s behalf, would like to leave Bowland Pennine MRT a legacy, we would gladly support you.

Please visit our legacy page for further information.

Do you fancy doing a sponsored challenge or wish to hold a charity event to help raise funds for the team? Please tell us about your idea and we will help to promote your challenge or event on social media or in the press.

BPMRT often holds fundraising events such as Flag Days where volunteers collect money in main towns and cities. If you can join us for a day or a few hours please get in touch.

BPMRT are receptive to other fundraising ideas. If you have something in mind please contact us.

We are often asked if there’s a specific piece of equipment or a team resource that requires direct funding. For example, following the 2015 floods in the Lancaster, Ribble Valley and Clitheroe area, Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team received funding from the North West Lions specifically to equip the team with relevant safety equipment and to train Swift water & Flood Water Rescue Technicians to deploy in the event of a similar disaster.

Thankfully incidents like that are few and far between, however there are other areas that would benefit from funding to allow us to maintain an effective search and rescue resource to support the statutory emergency services.

Our donation page lists a few items which are currently on our wish list. If you would like to help fund any of these items, please contact us directly. Thank you.

Basically, it costs £35,000 a year to keep the team operational, all of which is raised through donations. We receive no direct government funding.

All donations go directly towards our running costs and purchasing essential life-saving equipment and maintaining our vehicles, base and training team members new skills.
